The registered non-profit association for the promotion of studies about body identity disorders was founded in Zurich in March 2013, parallel to a scientific conference about the same topic, the Conference on Xenomelia. Among the members of the non-profit association are scientists, medical doctors, persons suffering from BIID and everyone who is interested in the topic. Our association is registered in Freiburg/Breisgau and was recognized as a non-profit association.
- Support of science and research in the field of body identity disorders
- Entry of body identity disorders in the manuals ICD (International Statistical Classification of Diseases) and DSM (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders). The entry is the prerequisite for establishing a variety of therapies as well as for the recognition as a separate disease. The currently used terms for body identity disorders in science are mainly BIID (Body Integrity Identity Disorder) and Xenomelia.
A consulting committee, which counts renowned researchers in the field of body identity disorders among its members, supports us to reach our goals.
